Demi Lovato’s New Single ‘Confident’ Is the Kind of Empowerment Anthem That Makes You Realize You Can Succeed literally anythingand the singer has just proven enough of the power of her own music.

Today Wilhelmina Models announced that the 23-year-old, predictably, has joined their agency. She always looked like a model, but now she is a.

Demi will join the ranks of the best catwalkers like Soo Joo Park, Neelam Gill, Sora Choi and… Nick Jonas. (OK, so it’s not a catwalker yet, but it’s a Wilhelmina dummy.)

“I am thrilled to sign my first major modeling contract with Wilhelmina,” Demi said in a statement. “I’m very excited to see where our work together will go creatively as I enter the next phase of my career and continue to develop as an artist.”

It’s refreshing to see a girl so dedicated to preaching body positivity on a list of models. Demi has been candid about her health struggles in the past, never shy about opening up about overcoming an eating disorder or going to rehab. She frequently credits exercise with helping her feel happy again – last month she told us working out was her meditation – and all the time in the gym has clearly paid off, at both physically and mentally.

A word of advice to photo editors everywhere: whatever you do, not digitally edit it to look leaner. “A lot of times I get frustrated because people will, without my consent, photoshop my body, and it doesn’t look like my own body. [anymore]”, she said in a recent interview. “Like, no, no, no, my thighs are bigger than that, can you put them back the way they were? I’ve literally done this before where I was like, ‘Put my legs back on me. Those aren’t my legs.'”

Just because she’s a model doesn’t mean she has to conform to your beauty standards. Leave Demi’s legs alone, please.
