NASSAU, BAHAMAS — An international modeling agent is heading to the Bahamas this week in hopes of offering local models the opportunity to attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Pia Rolle, president of PTG Marketing and Modeling Agency, said international casting director and former model Sandi Bass will attend the company’s casting event on Saturday.
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week attracts thousands of spectators, industry professionals, media and influencers from all over the world.
The bi-annual event is considered a milestone for models of all ages and can serve as a solid stepping stone into mainstream fashion and modeling.
“New York Fashion Week is one of the first, if not the first, fashion week.” said Rolle.
“This is the event that every model wants to be able to say they entered.”
Rolle said Saturday’s event is important when it comes to providing models with the opportunity to expand their portfolios and become household names internationally.
But, she also warned that modeling as a career requires consistency and hard work.
“It’s very important for local models to aspire to become an international model, but there’s a process to get there,” she said.
“There’s the training, the development and the ability to prove you’ve outgrown your local model.”
The event is open to PTG models as well as the general public.
The entry fee for models signed with PTG is $30, while other participants and models signed with other companies will need to pay $50.
Rolle said fans shouldn’t be intimidated by the event, as they can be chosen for Fashion Week just as much as professional models.
“If you don’t have any experience, even better,” she said.
“It makes it easier to work with you. It is open to amateurs and professionals.
The event is scheduled for July 20andfrom 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
It will take place at PTG Modeling Agency located on Village Road.
