Mariel is now part of the True Model Management talent list
MANILA, Philippines — Actress and former beauty queen Mariel de Leon announced Thursday (May 30) that she has signed up with True Model Management in New York City.
“As a ‘bigger’ girl, I never thought I could fulfill my dream of modeling in the United States…I grew up being surrounded by more seeing and hearing what the public and the media said to be ‘fit for a model’, ‘beauty fit for a queen’ or even just ‘beautiful’ thinking that I’m supposed to radically transform into something I’m not just so I can ‘fit in’ or to succeed ; Especially coming from an Asian country where the standards are even harder to meet,” she said, adding she’s glad the industry has changed.
“Well thank goodness times have changed and the industry is now more diverse and accepts different types of women and men! It doesn’t matter size, color, race or origin: YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND YOU BE WORTHY! Over the years I have learned to love myself even in difficult times and even when no one else did. Now I am the strong, confident woman I always wanted to be. Or should I say “trust beautiful” and thic!”
She thanked the modeling agency and said she was looking forward to visiting New York.
Mariel is still under the management of Leo Dominguez for Filipino engagements.
According to its website, True Model Management, founded by entrepreneur and model Dale Noelle “represents all sizes and categories of models and embraces an extensive network of clients to connect models with talent assignments in production, exhibition, of trade shows, print, parades and commercial. . The agency is based in New York and has a subsidiary in Los Angeles.
Mariel, daughter of actors Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong, joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2017. She won the title of Bb Pilipinas International. She competed in Japan, where Indonesian Kevin Llana took the crown.
